When lockdown hit, I moved all my clients online. At first, many of them (like me) wondered if it would feel like a downgrade. Fast-forward 5.5 years and 85% of my client base is now completely online.

Clients who moved from in-person haven’t looked back, and new clients who were sceptical at first are now wondering why they were ever unsure.

Why it works so well: it removes every traditional barrier. In a world where many of us are time-poor, online training is extremely time-efficient. No need to travel to a gym, worry about the weather for a session in the park or rush to make your home ‘presentable’ for me to come over. 

It’s also more cost-effective, because by working online I can keep my prices lower than in-person training (I don’t have to factor in travel time). This means you can be anywhere in the world and still benefit from my expertise but at a lower cost.

How does online personal training work?

There is no rigid structure when it comes to virtual personal training because you are unique! It all depends on you as an individual, what your goals are and what you enjoy doing. However, here is a sample 60 minute session structure:

Check-in

I will always check in with you before we start our sessions to see what headspace you’re in, to meet you where you’re at and know how you’d like to feel at the end of our session.

Grounding Breath Work

I offer some gentle breathing guidance to allow you to escape from your daily tasks and the outside world. This allows you to focus on yourself, de-stress and be totally present.

Skill Development

Your movement goals are unique, and so is your path to achieving them. In this phase, we focus on developing the specific skills required to perform the tasks you want to accomplish. This could be anything from hiking a big hill to being able to run for a bus.

Performance Training

Performance training takes your skill development to the next level. Using the movement skills we’ve refined, I create a targeted plan to improve your efficiency and mastery in a specific task. By focusing on fine-tuning your technique and building consistency, you’ll be confidently hiking up that hill, gliding effortlessly down the ski slopes, or running for the bus in no time!

Grounding Meditation

Once all the hard work is done, I invite you to find a comfy position and take in everything that you have just achieved. If you are online then I also offer to play a relaxing sound bath which usually goes down a treat.

Check-in

Just like at the beginning, I will ask how you’re feeling now compared to how you felt at the start. We briefly reflect over the session and I give you a sneak preview of our next session to look forward to.

Your Questions Answered

How does online personal training work?

First thing to note is that online personal training is different from online programming. Online programming is where you get an exercise programme to follow and complete in your own time. Online personal training is where we work together live, in real time.

We connect via Zoom, and I guide you through the entire session, adjusting your form and adapting exercises as necessary.

All you need is a comfortable space for movement (even a small area works), reliable internet connection, and a spot where I can see you clearly. Online personal training gives you the flexibility to work with me from anywhere in the world.

It depends on which package you choose. I offer a range of packages to suit different budgets and lifestyles. The minimum investment is £100 a month, this includes 2x 30 minute sessions.

No equipment is needed to get started. It’s my job to get creative with any equipment that you have access to – this could be cans of beans, cartons of milk, a broom or tea towel! Depending on your goal, you might want some heavier weights, in which case I would recommend some dumbbells.  

Either works. I usually recommend a laptop so you can see me more clearly but it is very much down to personal preference.

Yes! A hybrid can be a great option. This will be a bespoke package so please get in touch for more information and to book in your free consultation.

I have a cancellation policy of 24 hours. Therefore sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will still be charged. If you’d like to stop sessions completely, 30 days notice is required.
