Channeling inner artist for movement by painting and being creative at local cafe

I’ve just sat down in my local cafe in Battersea I feel like I’ve walked into an art class! This week they have been offering everyone a blank canvas, paint and brushes to paint away and tap into their creativity (at no extra charge). Not only is this a lovely, community focused gesture but this got me thinking how fitness relates to painting

Both have particular techniques and styles, some more popular than others. But what they ultimately come down to is personal preference, freedom and fun. Painting and fitness can both offer this when we strip it all back. No strict rules or judgement, just tapping into what feels good in the moment.

Exercise has some negative connotations. Feelings of shame if you’re not doing enough of it, the right kind or seeing results (usually aesthetic). What if we apply our thoughts of painting just for fun to exercise? Suddenly it can offer a whole new perspective. From rigid and results driven to fun, creative and relaxed

So next time you’re thinking of doing some movement, can you channel your inner artist and do what feels right for you, while having some fun with it?
